Álvaro Ortiz (Zaragoza, Spain) is a graphic designer at the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón and an illustrator at the Escola Massana in Barcelona. His latest publications are “Two Dutchmen in Naples” (Astiberri, 2016), co-published with the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and “Viajes” (Astiberri, 2016).

He develops his artistic practice around comics and digital illustration in color, working on topics such as friendship or death, always from fiction and a "not very serious" point of view.

He comes to C3P to carry out a residency, invited by the International Comic and Drawing Festival carried out by the Entre Viñetas Corporation; is interested in meeting authors, editors, journalists, among other people who know or are dedicated to making comics in Medellín, in order to build as a final result, a comic from the information given by the aforementioned actors.

Álvaro affirms that this experience is significant because it invites him to get out of his comfort zone, both in the subjects he usually works on, and in the way he executes his production, which in this case is through physical paper and white and white technique. black.
